  • SALSICHA DO MANTORRAS

Well, it’s Mantorras again. I really admire him, but… A few years ago, Mantorras had a sponsorship thing with a sausages company called Izidoro. The slogan: “O sabor que eu adoro”, meaning “The taste I adore”. I can’t thing of anything more stu…strange. Great marketing!

  • SUNDAY SURF

After a mini season surfing in São Pedro, Sunday we decided to go back to Costa da Caparica in a search for better waves. The conditions were good, small waves, good wind, not too crowded… and if it weren’t for a small leg injury, it would have been a great surfing morning. But when there’s…

He has just qualified for the ASP World Tour 2009, together with another portuguese surfer Tiago Pires – although Lipke opted for the German nationality, due to sponsorship reasons (he has dual nationality: German/Portuguese). Congratulations Lipke!

  • LAST WEEKEND

Last weekend there were no “giant” waves as expected, but there were some pretty good waves to have some fun. Enough waves to have another edition of the Estoril Surf Festival. The photo above is from the Skimboard championship, in São Pedro’s beach (Estoril). The Longboard European Championship will take place on the 13th and…

  • SOMETHING GOOD…

«Something good is going to happen, the optimists are nearby!» Several abandoned buildings around Principe Real (Lisbon) had their doors painted blue, with pretty inspirational expressions. I’ve read, in here, that it was the work of a graffiti artist called Eko 5, but I’m really not sure.

  • FOUR OCEANS PHOTOS

To keep the spirits up, here’s some pics from the Four Oceans tournament, in Algarve. More here and here.

  • MARTIN VARSAVSKY

Yesterday I got the opportunity to watch a presentation by Martin Varsavsky* in a conference in Lisbon. He’s quite an interesting guy and made one of the best presentations of the conference. He talked about the web, and how he still is optimistic about this economic crisis**. He also talked about craziness and about the…

  • BANDA DESENHADA AMADORA

An International Cartoon Festival is taking place until the next weekend, in Amadora. Usually I would wait until the last day, but this year I decided to go early. So, on Saturday there we were. Some pretty cool stuff, the classics, the newcomers, the internationally acclaimed and the not so internationally acclaimed portuguese illustrators. There…

  • LISBON TYPOGRAPHY

Lisbon has beautiful examples of typography all around the city, and it’s been a long time overdue project of mine to try to capture some of them. So the other day I decided it was time, and started to post them on Flickr. You can check them out in here. This particular photo is from…

  • PRAÇA DA FIGUEIRA SKATE PARK

Praça da Figueira is one of the skater’s favorite places in Lisbon. At least, it’s always pretty crowded. And now, it seems that they’re building a real skate park. Maybe something is going to happen there.

Coming this weekend, the Forum Algarve Four Oceans – European Longboard Tour 2008. • FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL

Just started the Lisbon French Film Festival. One film I’m looking forward to see is the animation “Waltz with Bashir” (picture above). Seems to have pretty cool screenshots. By the way, tomorrow it’s the last day to see the Lisbon Village Festival. A festival mainly dedicated to (digital) cinema, art and music.

  • A DAY IN SESIMBRA

Last monday was Oceanlab 6th anniversary, so all team went scuba diving and on a afternoon sailing in Sesimbra. Every anniversary we do something different, but I must say this year was probably my favorite. Scuba diving was a lot of fun. Sesimbra seems to be a nice place to do it, and on the…

  • EXHIBITION @ CCB

Nice exhibition at CCB, Lisbon. The picture above is a video installation from Douglas Gordon (one of my favourite artists) “Left is right and right is wrong and left is wrong and right is right”. The exhibition also includes Julião Sarmento, but the most surprising moment was Jakub Nepras’s “Babylon Plant“. Very interesting.
