E se é verdade que o nível de surf (de alguns) ainda deixa muito a desejar, não iria ser isso a opor-se à vontade de um homem! Muito menos de dois.

Cientes que a primeira tentativa é mais virada para a aprendizagem do que outra coisa, optámos por algo mais “simples”, e por isso a primeira experiência vai ser uma alaia. E para podermos estar à vontade, escolhemos a madeira menos indicada para isso, mas… a mais barata. Pinho.

A primeira sessão já foi e para já sabemos que nos faltam ferramentas e a madeira mais adequada (mais grossa, mais resistente e com menos nós).
Mas o churrasco correu 5 estrelas!!



It’s been a while since we’ve been wanting to get our hands dirty and try to make a surfboard. After all it’s hard not to, after seeing all these fantastic blogs out there, with such great stuff.

So, we’ve started with an alaia. It’s simpler.

And we’ve started cheap… with Pine Wood. Yes, we know it’s not the best wood to do it, and it should be thicker and with less knots, but hey… it’s our first!

The first working session went well. The barbecue went fantastic!!

Right on the first day our car broke down, just 3 km from the destination. It was midnight so we just stood there and waited for the morning to come.
Surprisingly… in the morning the car still didn’t work, but our mad mechanical skills sorted the problem out (a disconnected wire somewhere!!) and we were off to catch some hugely small waves. All day.

At the end of the day we saw Benfica loose to Liverpool… bastards.

After a long break from surfing, I found myself in the water with a air temperature of 3º C. Nice comeback. At least the water temperature seemed fine.
